It really doesn’t feel like it was that long ago when Terminal C opened at Orlando International Airport.

But now the Brightline Train Station is also complete, which is helpful for many travelers. What if we told you that construction was coming back, though? Yep, MCO Airport is planning to expand Terminal C!

On October 18th, The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority approved a $1.09 million contract with Ricondo & Associates that will allow Terminal C to expand at the airport, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

This new wing of the terminal would “more than double the number of airline gates currently at the south terminal,” as well as add other amenities. This addition is due to passenger growth; the additional 16-24 gates will add plenty of space for more airline passengers.

While actual construction may be years away, “this shows the intent of the airport to get its affairs in order should the time come.”

That’s not all Orlando Airport has planned, though! MCO recently rolled out a 10-year plan of action, outlining updates in 4 key areas: connections, community, innovation, and peoplePart of that plan includes possible technology to allow for electric vertical take-off and landing for airplanes.
