Disney World has lots of secrets.

Sure, we know about the abandoned theme park and that the mural in the Germany pavilion is hollow because an attraction was supposed to go there. But did you know that Cast Members have their own language they use to communicate around the parks? We’re breaking it down for you!
Disney World Cast Members have some special words and phrases they use to communicate important information to each other without cluing in the general public. We can’t reveal all their secrets, but here are a few terms you may want to listen for on your next visit.
Code V
We’ve talked about this a few times, but Code V means that someone has gotten sick in the park (a.k.a. vomited), and it needs to be cleaned up.

If this is on a ride, it may mean the ride will pause for a little bit, or if it’s out in the open, a Cast Member needs to come by and clean it up.
Code H
Similar to Code V, Code H also includes a bodily function, as it means (and we’re being serious here, we’re not kidding) that someone has pooped somewhere in the park that’s not a bathroom. If you’re wondering why “H,” the story goes that the “H” is as in “honey,” and know who likes honey? Pooh. Winnie the Pooh. Get it?

This can either mean that someone threw a used diaper on a ride (yes, that happens, PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT) or that someone had an accident somewhere and wasn’t able to make it to the bathroom. Similar to Code V, a ride may need to close temporarily for it to be cleaned.
Code A
Code A means that Cast Members have found ashes inside a Disney World attraction (Haunted Mansion is the most common recipient of this call).

It’s been revealed in the past that the ashes show up pink under black light, which is how they’re able to find it easily. If this is called, a ride will be closed for a good portion of time because whoever cleans the remains needs to be dressed in a full hazmat suit.
Alpha Unit
If Alpha Unit is called, this means that, unfortunately, a medical emergency is occurring, and an ambulance has been called.

First responders are located close to Disney World property, so it usually only takes a few minutes for them to arrive and get someone to get the medical help they need.
Code 101
You’ll likely hear Code 101 called right before some unfortunate news because it means that a ride is about to temporarily close.

It’s a way for Cast Members to signal to each other to start preparing for the closure of the ride, which will include telling guests that the ride has closed. This can be a weather-related closure or a due to a technical difficulty.

If you hear any Cast Members use these terms, now you know what they mean! It may even help you plan your day better since many of them result in ride closures. As always, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
