EVERY Character in Universal Studios Orlando

Universal Studios Orlando is well-known for many things. The resort features two of the world’s most visited theme parks, the revolutionary Wizarding World of Harry Potter lands, and some groundbreaking thrill rides and attractions including The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Velocicoaster, and Transformers: The Ride.

However, one thing that Universal isn’t well known for — especially compared to Disney’s theme parks — are character interactions. But the parks actually have a large assortment of characters ready and willing to meet your family.

Here’s a complete guide to character meet & greets at Universal Orlando.

DreamWorks Trolls

The Dreamworks Trolls — including Poppy and Branch — can generally be found in the near the former entrance to the now-closed KidZone area of Universal Studios Florida. The characters were previously seen at the DreamWorks Destination, which closed in January 2023.

Minions

The ever-popular Minions characters, along with other Despicable Me characters including Agnes, Edith, and Margot, can be found near the exit of the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction. We imagine they may also appear near the Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast attraction when it opens later in 2023.

The Simpsons, Krusty the Clown, and Sideshow Bob

Member of the Simpsons family – Homer, Bart, Lisa, and Marge — as well as Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob — can be found in the park’s Springfield area. Take note, the schedule will not specify which characters are appearing at a given time.

Knight Bus Conductor

The Knight Bus Conductor is understandably located outside the Knight Bus, in the London section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, ready to engage with any muggle who chooses to talk with him.

Transformers

The massively scaled versions of Transformers characters Optimus Prime, Bumbleblee and Megatron all appear at various times outside the Transformers: The Ride show building. Similar to the Simpsons characters, it’s a bit of a crapshoot in which of the three will come out for a scheduled meet & greet time.

SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Squidward

Spongebob characters from the legendary Nickelodeon cartoon series can appropriately enough be found inside the SpongeBob Storepants store at Universal Studios Florida.

Scooby Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Fred, Daphne

Scooby Doo and the rest of Mystery Inc. can often be found with the Mystery Machine van in the Hollywood Boulevard area of the park.

Doc Brown

Doc Brown, of Back to the Future fame, can be found in the Hollywood Boulevard area of the park, often with his bike or other scientific equipment.

Shrek, Donkey, Fiona

Currently, there is no set area in Universal to meet the Shrek characters since the closure of their dedicated meet & greet with most of KidZone in January of 2023.

HashTag the Panda

HashTag the Panda is one of the most memorable characters created for Jimmy Fallon’s version of The Tonight Show, and plays a large part in the Race Through New York attraction. The character can be found for meet & greets around the gift shop or queue waiting area of the Fallon attraction.

Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe can be found with the other Hollywood Icons walking Hollywood Boulevard, interacting with guests.

Blue the Velociraptor

Blue can be met as part of the Raptor Encounter show in the Jurassic Park area of Islands of Adventure.

Beetlejuice

Following the closure of the Graveyard Revue area in the late 2010s, Beetlejuice can be found talking Hollywood Boulevard.

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty can be found outside the Hello Kitty store on Hollywood Boulevard. Shocking, we know.

Revenge of the Mummy Pharaohs

These Mummy characters can be found, on stilts, outside the Revenge of the Mummy attraction.

Dora, Boots, Diego

The Dora the Explorer characters can be found near Hollywood Boulevard, as part of the Universal Character Zone. Many of the other characters we’ve mentioned may also appear in this area at various times as well.

Kung Fu Panda

Po, the titular Kung Fu Panda of the popular Dreamworks film series can usually be found at Islands of Adventure, near the entrance to Marvel Super Hero Island.

Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees

Wizarding World characters Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees can be found performing shows in the Diagon Alley section of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Marvel Characters

As with many things about the Marvel/Universal/Disney conundrum, meeting Marvel characters at an Orlando theme park can be a bit perplexing, Namely, the major of Marvel’s heavy hitters – heroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Cyclopes, Rogue, and Storm. And villains including Green Goblin and Doctor Doom can all only be found at Marvel Super Hero Island at Islands of Adventure.
