NEWS: ‘Avatar’ Sequel Officially Gets a Title

After making its big-screen debut in 2009, the movie Avatar quickly broke records at the time, spawning an entire theme park land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as well as the promise of many (many) sequels.

Thirteen years later, we finally have gotten one big step closer to the first sequel for Avatar, with a major update being reported on the movie.

According to Deadline, the title for the second Avatar was announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Titled Avatar: The Way of Water, the long-anticipated film will release overseas on December 14th, 2022, and in the United States on December 16th, 2022.

The film’s producer, John Landau, came in from New Zealand to make the CinemaCon presentation on the film and revealed that each of the 4 sequels “will be the Sully family. Each story will be a standalone and each will come to its own conclusion.” He also indicated he was hard at work making final touches on the film.

Also debuting to the guests of CinemaCon? A trailer for the movie! While CinemaCon attendees got a first look, the trailer will be making its exclusive debut in theaters next week before showings of Marvel’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. The following week, Disney will be releasing the trailer online.

    1. In 2008 when James Cameron developed the 3D filming process used to make the movie, it was amazing. The visuals aren’t as jaw-dropping in 2022 as we all have become accustomed to amazing special effects in a lot of films. However, go rent it or watch it on Disney+. If you like Flight of Passage, you won’t be disappointed.
