When it comes to the game of picking the worst hotels in Walt Disney World, there are never any winners. Well there are hotels that are the best at being the worst which means that technically they’re winners. What we’re trying to say is, there’s no winning where PICKING the worst hotels is concerned, and since this list comes straight from our viewers, that means you’re all losers! Wait a minute… Walt Disney World has some of the most glamorous and iconic hotels in the world, but we don’t care about that today.
Only the tiniest rooms, the longest walks from transportation and the rowdiest neighbors are good enough for today’s RTT, though we think some of these choices might leave you perplexed. Disney’s Riviera Resort? Seriously? Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort? Awww. Disney’s All Star Sports? Yeah that one’s pretty rough, we’re not gonna lie. We understand that every Disney World hotel isn’t going to be the best for every person, but Are These The WORST Hotels In Disney World?
Caribbean Beach is beautiful and has individual pools and the lake which I love BUT the rooms literally STINK. My first visit I thought my room smelled a little smoky but each time the door closed I’d stop noticing it after a few seconds, so I wasn’t sure. Then I got home and opened my luggage and the smoke smell hit me in the face, so it wasn’t my imagination! The last time I was there it smelled like mold and cigarette smoke no matter how many different rooms they tried to give me, and I transferred over to Coronado Springs, which has a new HVAC system and smells divine. I’m not returning to Caribbean Beach until they upgrade the HVAC.
When Molly calls the CBR, where we are staying at our first trip ever in a couple of months, the worst of the worst at the end of this video broke my heart… because we felt we disappointed HER. In our defense, Molly, we did it for the Skyliner, and because it is the budget Poly. We also got a breakfast at ‘Ohana and the castle for both of our MK days. Beyond our travel days, our resorts will be mostly for sleeping. Please forgive us but the other moderates lack when it comes to transportation. 🙂
CBR is a nice resort. The issue is the lake in the center. The skyliner is awesome BUT getting into rooms near the skyliner is going to require a room request and whether that room request is honored is a coin flip. My recommendation is a standard view room and then fax in a request (google it) as request the Jamaica section near the skyliner.
Otherwise it’s a bit of a walk to/from the skyliner. We’ve stayed at Value (Pop), Moderate (CBR) and Deluxe (Cont) WDW resorts and Pop is where we are returning. Can we afford to stay at any of the resorts we want? Yes. But are there really that many meaningful differences between the resorts? IMO, not really. So what you are left with is location and transportation access. We like going to the parks AND different resorts. The problem is that unless you want to uber everywhere (not an option for people with mobility scooters) then you are left using Disney transportation options (Buses and Skyliner). Being on a Skyliner resort means easy access to Hollywood Studios. Easy access to HS means you can get a bus from any resort (or park although less useful in this case) to HS and then you are at most a 10 minute ride back to your resort. If you spend an extra few bucks on a preferred (or better yet preferred pool) room at Pop you are a 2 minute walk back to your room at night. That’s worth a lot to me, esp if you have kids.
