In the past few decades, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been home to some amazing talent from actors and film creators alike.

Unfortunately, we must sometimes say goodbye to those incredible stars, and yesterday, we learned of a beloved actor’s passing.
On Sunday, March 13th, Marvel Studios shared on Instagram that William Hurt, the actor behind the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, had passed away.
According to Variety, Hurt died on Sunday of natural causes. His son Will released a statement saying, “It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes.”

William Hurt rose to fame in the 1980s, starring in films like Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Big Chill, and Body Heat. Over the course of his career, he was nominated for four Oscars. His most recent fame comes from his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including appearances in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Widow.

We give our condolences to William Hurt’s family, as well as all those who were admirers of his work.
