If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, one of the most important things you’ll want to keep in mind is the weather.

Weather in the Sunshine State can change throughout your trip, so it’s best to look ahead and be prepared for whatever might be in store. This week, we’ve already shared that more hot weather and storms are on their way, but now we’ve got an update about a tropical system that is set to impact Florida.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the National Hurricane Center is watching out for a tropical system that is forecast to pass over Florida this week. This tropical system is a trough currently made of some disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
According to the National Hurricane Center, a trough is an “elongated area of low pressure with no distinct low level center.”

As of 8 AM on Tuesday, September 7th, there is a 10% chance that the trough will become a tropical depression by Thursday. There is also a 30% chance that it will become a tropical depression by Sunday. If it does become a tropical storm it will take the name Mindy.
It’s not expected to organize into a stronger storm, however, before arriving on Florida’s shores. There are some winds keeping the storm from developing into a stronger system by then.

What does this mean if you’re planning to travel to Orlando this week? The Orlando Sentinel notes that there is a medium to high chance of thunderstorms in the forecast this week. On Tuesday, thunderstorm chances are expected at 50%. That moves up to 60% on Wednesday, and it is set to remain that way for the rest of the week. On Saturday, shower chances drop a bit to 40%.

Of course, the weather is subject to change. If you are planning to visit Orlando this week, be sure to check the weather forecast before you step out of your room and into the parks, and pack those umbrellas and ponchos just in case (it looks like you might need them!). We’ll look for more information throughout the week about this tropical system, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
Are you planning to visit Orlando this week? Tell us in the comments what you do to prepare for stormy weather in the parks.
