The soundtrack for Moana just broke a record on Billboard‘s Soundtrack Chart,  beating Frozen II‘s previous record. Let’s discuss!

Forbes reported that Moana‘s soundtrack just broke the record for the amount of time spent in the number one spot on Billboard‘s Soundtrack Chart. The soundtrack has spent time at number one on 52 different occasions!

It may be a coincidence, but Forbes remarked that the Moana soundtrack has been in the number one spot since July 31st, which is right around the time that Disney World opened the Moana-themed rooms at the Polynesian Village Resort.

For most of 2021, Moana has been in number one spot, only getting knocked down by the In the Heights soundtrack in March. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the soundtrack for In the Heights and most of the songs in Moana, and Forbes noted that soundtracks featuring work by Miranda have now spent five straight months in the number one spot on the Billboard Soundtrack Chart.
