'Bambi' Slated as the Next Live-Action Disney Remake

Fans of Disney’s growing library of live-action remakes will be pleased to hear another film has been added to the roster of future releases.

Variety recently reported on the latest film to be added to the list of upcoming Walt Disney Studio productions, and we’re already reaching for our tissues!

The classic animated film ‘Bambi’ is officially in the works as a ‘live action’ remake! The film will be made in the same photo-realistic animation style as seen in Jungle Book and The Lion King. So, not exactly ‘live’ action, but it will sure look close to the real thing!

Disney already has several live action remakes currently in production. The next film up for release is Mulan, which opens on March 27, 2020. Last year it was announced that a live action remake of The Little Mermaid is also in the works and will star Halle Bailey, Javier Bardem, and Melissa McCarthy. Finally, Cruella, a 101 Dalmatians prequel starring Emma Stone, will open in 2021.

Beyond those films in production, several other live action remakes of animated classics are in development. These films include Lilo and Stitch, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Peter and Wendy which will be based off of Peter Pan.
