Small children pose an interesting photography problem in that they are small. Most adults I see at Walt Disney World (and most anyplace else) usually stand when photographing children. They get photos from an angle like this one of my grandson playing with the Muziki drums in Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
While this is a very good photograph, you can tell I was standing above him when I took it. Going back to my recent post on Getting Closer When Photographing at the Magic Kingdom, I got down to his level for this photo and filled the frame with his joy.
As you can see I did have on my Superzoom lens, but I still got close to my subject so I did not have to crop it.
It also helps at character meet and greets to get down to a child’s-eye level. Especially when the PhotoPass photographer does not.
Of the dozen photos I took of my grandson meeting with Adventurers Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the Adventurers Outpost, this is my favorite.
To recap, whenever you are photographing small children, it is best to get down to their eye level, get in close and fill that frame!Â

That was a fun time! Had the whole Picture This! crew that day with Barrie, Lisa and myself. Happy you took out advice and filled that frame, Sandi!
