Epcot is in the middle of a multi-year transformation. This transformation means lots of construction walls and tarps up around the park. On our latest visit we took some pictures to stay updated on the progress of all of the projects.
The addition that can be seen from all over the park is the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. The queue building will be in the former Universe of Energy building, while the ride will be in a new purpose-built ride building.
The ride will be home to some pretty revolutionary ride vehicles when it opens in 2021 — read about the Guardians of the Galaxy ride vehicles here.
A new space-themed restaurant will be opening in 2020 in between Mission: Space and Test Track.
Learn about the new space-themed restaurant here.
Sticking with new restaurants, a new signature restaurant is coming to the Japan pavilion. Very little information has been released about this new location. This new restaurant will be in addition to Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining.
The International Gateway and France pavilions are both home to construction walls and tarps. No announcements have been made about the work being done in the International Gateway area. The walls and tarps in this area are blocking most of the view into the construction areas in the France pavilion, so we don’t have any photos of that construction.
The France pavilion is getting ready to welcome the Ratatouille ride, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in 2021. A new creperie is opening in the pavilion (no opening time frame has been announced), plus a Beauty and the Beast Sing-along is coming “soon”.
The America pavilion is seeing some touch up of the walk ways on either side of the entrance of the American Adventure building. Some walls are up in this area, in other areas you’ll find stanchions blocking access to the new concrete.
Lastly, as we announced previously this week, IllumiNations will be ending on September 30, 2019. To prepare for the new show, Epcot Forever, which debuts on October 1, 2019, some work has been going on in and around the islands in the World Showcase Lagoon.
There are less construction barges in the Lagoon than there have been lately.
