The film will feature nature photography, immersive in-theater effects, and space sequences created by Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic.

Disney promises Awesome Planet will deliver an environmental message that will resonate far beyond its final scenes.

This addition to Epcot is another project in the overall transformation of Epcot which includes the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction, updated Circle-Vision films in Canada and China, a new Play Pavilion, new restaurants in the Japan and France pavilions, as well as a new space-themed restaurant.

In this artist rendering, a new play pavilion in development at Epcot will include first-of-their-kind experiences devoted to playful fun, inviting guests into an innovative city bursting with interactive experiences and hands-on activities. Friends and family will interact with favorite Disney characters in an energetic metropolis unlike anything ever seen before at Epcot. The as-yet-unnamed space will debut to guests in time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary. (Disney)

Disney states: “We’re aware, of course, that each time we touch Epcot, we are touching the setting for millions of precious family memories. So, we are very careful stewards of this park.”

One example of this is the new Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along coming to the France pavilion will rotate with the existing film Impressions de France, This allows the film to retain its place in Guinness World Records as the longest-running daily screened film in the world.

  1. I’m glad this one’s getting a long-overdue update. They didn’t say if there’d be particular narrator or host, but if I had my way, it would be a co-hosted affair, like the former Animation Studio tour that featured the tag-team endeavors of Walter Cronkite and Robin Williams. Or, better yet, maybe pair a famous celebrity with a Disney character. Al Gore and Elsa would make an ideal team for this subject, and that way we’d also get a dose of Frozen in Future World, pulling some more people in that direction instead of Norway and potentially easing some of the throngs that would otherwise make a beeline for Frozen Ever After. It might also help to alleviate waits at Soarin’, since a popular character like Elsa would offer a greater incentive for many families to check out one of the neighboring attractions in that pavilion.

    1. The “Circle of Life” movie was already a so-called “global warming propaganda film” so it’s not like Disney would be doing anything new there. And even if it will be that kind of movie, no one is forcing you to watch it. Go ride Spaceship Earth instead.
