The Walt Disney Company announced a strategic reorganization of its businesses into four segments: the newly-formed Direct-to-Consumer and International; the combined Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products; Media Networks; and Studio Entertainment. The reorganization is effective immediately. Kevin Mayer, who has served as Disney's Chief Strategy Officer since 2015, has been named Chairman of the new Direct-to-Consumer and International business segment. Bob Chapek, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, will assume additional responsibility for all of Disney's consumer products operations globally, including licensing and Disney stores, as Chairman of the new Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products business segment. The Disney Media Networks business segment is co-chaired by Ben Sherwood, President, Disney|ABC Television Group, and James Pitaro, who was recently named President of ESPN and previously served as Chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. The Media Networks segment will remain virtually the same. The Studio Entertainment business segment is led by Alan F. Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios, and remains virtually the same, with the exception of the management of program sales moving to the Direct-to-Consumer and International business segment.

Disney Parks to donate up to $1 million to Make-A-Wish
Posted onBuilding on the success of 2016's global campaign, Disney fans and Make-A-Wish(R) supporters looking to share the joy this holiday season can once again join Disney Parks and Make-A-Wish and Share Your Ears to help make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.
Disney and Make-A-Wish fans around the world can make a difference by unlocking a donation with a simple photo and hashtag. Disney Parks will donate $5 to Make-A-Wish, up to a total of $1 million, for each photo taken and shared featuring Mickey Mouse Ears -- or any creative "ears" at all -- with the hashtag #ShareYourEars. Photos can be uploaded to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram between now and December 25, 2017.

Legendary Disney Animator and Imagineer Francis Xavier ‘X’ Atencio Passes Away at Age 98
Posted onLegendary Disney Animator and Imagineer Francis Xavier 'X' Atencio passed away on September 10 at age 98. He began his Disney career in 1938 as an animator, working on films such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Mary Poppins. In 1965 he moved to WED Enterprises, where he helped bring to life attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion, including co-writing the iconic "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" and "Grim Grinning Ghosts." He continued to consult with Walt Disney Imagineering after his retirement in 1984, and was named a Disney Legend in 1996. AllEars.Net joins X's family and the entire Disney community in mourning his passing.
