In the summer, a young (or less-young) nerd's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of cons. This year's convention season kicked off with WonderCon, once again held in Anaheim. Disney was well represented by many of its myriad branches in panels, merchandise, and, of course, cosplay.

Angelina Jolie Casts a Spell as Maleficent on the Summer 2014 Issue of Disney Twenty-Three

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club celebrates the upcoming release of the eagerly anticipated Maleficent in the summer publication Disney twenty-three. Angelina Jolie and the creative team pull back the curtain on the surprising tale behind one of Disney's most iconic villains. "I was afraid of her, and I loved her," Jolie confesses in the cover story. Accompanying the piece is an in-depth look by animation historian Charles Solomon at the development of Walt Disney's 1959 creative masterpiece, Sleeping Beauty, with rarely seen concept art and drawings.

DISNEY’S MILLION DOLLAR ARM PITCHING CONTEST OFFERS A CHANCE TO WIN $1 MILLION

Disney is giving amateur baseball pitchers in the nation a chance to compete for a $1 million prize in the Million Dollar Arm Pitching Contest. The Million Dollar Arm Pitching Contest is being held to celebrate the opening of Disney's "Million Dollar Arm," an incredible true story about two young men who went from never throwing a baseball to getting a Major League tryout.

Disney Cruise Line Visits Norway in 2015

In summer 2015, Disney Cruise Line is charting a magical new course for northern Europe - exploring for the first time the Norwegian fjords, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Plus, Disney Cruise Line is returning to the Baltic for all-new itineraries, including sailings from Copenhagen, Denmark to St. Petersburg, Russia. Cruises to the Mediterranean, Alaska, Caribbean and Bahamas also are included in the summer lineup. Bookings open to the public on March 27, 2014. D23 Expo Announced for August 14-16, 2015

Disney Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger announced to shareholders and D23 Members at the Company's Annual Meeting today in Portland, Oregon, that D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will present the next D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center the weekend of Aug. 14-16, 2015. Each of Disney's wonderful worlds will unite to celebrate what's new and what's on the horizon from theme parks, television, music, games, and films, including Pixar, the Muppets, Star Wars, and Marvel.
