Disney Vacation Club members spend a lot of money on their Disney World vacations, and it might have just gotten a little more expensive with this new rule they have to follow.

Disney World made an Annual Pass change that could affect Disney Vacation Club members. We have everything you need to know about this change.
Being a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member doesn’t come with park entry — that’s an additional cost. Since it’s common for DVC members to book long vacations, it’s likely they would purchase an annual pass rather than date-based tickets.

The most popular annual pass option for DVC members is the Sorcerer Pass since it is the cheapest pass available for non-Florida residents, but it’s only available to non-Florida residents who are also DVC members. But this new rule could make it harder for some DVC members to get this pass tier.

This new rule, which was first revealed in April, limits DVC members to purchasing the Sorcerer Pass for up to eight immediate family members living in their household. Which means if you are taking a trip with more than eight out-of-state family members, someone might have to purchase the most expensive annual pass — the Incredi-Pass.

When going to purchase the Sorcerer Pass as a DVC member, the wording USED to read, “To purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass, Disney Vacation Club Members must be eligible for Membership Extras. Membership Extras are incidental benefits — these offers are subject to availability, change or termination and may require a fee.”

The section NOW reads, “To purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass, Disney Vacation Club Members must be eligible for Membership Extras. Passes may only be purchased by eligible Members for themselves and their immediate family living in their household, up to a total of eight (8) per year. Annual pass offers are not part of the ownership interest and are an incidental benefit subject to availability, change or termination.”

But really, how big is the difference in cost between the two? Well, the Sorcerer Pass costs $1,099 plus tax, and the Incredi-Pass costs $1,629 plus tax. That’s nearly a $600 difference! And when it comes to payment plans, there are none for non-Florida residents — monthly payment plans are only offered to Florida residents.

Both the Sorcerer Pass and Incredi-Pass allow guests to make up to five park reservations at a time. The only difference between the two tiers is their blockout dates — the Sorcerer Pass has blockout dates on select days during busier seasons like holidays, while the Incredi-Pass has no blockout dates.

I live out of state and have been an AP holder since we bought our DVC contract. The price of a pass has gone up all this time, more than 20 years, and now it is to the point I can no longer afford one. I know this is not DVC making the price changes. I have been priced out.
