NEWS: State of Emergency Declared for Disney World as New Storm Develops

It’s hurricane season which means you’re more likely to experience some severe weather on your trips to Disney World.

The season began on June 1st and ends on November 30th putting us in the middle. We recently saw Hurricane Beryl and now another storm is on the way that may cause severe weather at Disney World.

As of Thursday, August 1st, Florida has declared a state of emergency for 54 counties in the state. Osceola County and Orange County, the two that house Disney World, are included in the list.

According to WFTV 9, a new major storm system is moving toward Florida and a potential hurricane could make landfall as soon as August 3rd, 2024. There’s a 30% chance of development over the next two days and a 70% chance over the next week.

This comes after the National Hurricane Center first reported a potential storm over the weekend. The storm is currently heading toward Florida and the eastern Gulf of Mexico where the warm tropical waters could help strengthen the storm into a hurricane. It would be called Hurricane Debby.
