The holidays are in full swing at Disneyland, but there’s been one iconic piece missing since the festivities began.

Each year, “it’s a small world” undergoes a seasonal transformation for the holidays, but its grand debut was delayed back in November due to flooding that impacted some of the ride’s machinery. The classic ride remained closed for almost a full month, but now it is officially BACK with its holiday overlay!
“it’s a small world” reopened for guests on Monday, December 6th, and you can preview the ride in Disney Parks’ latest Tiktok!

After an extended closure, we’re so happy to see “it’s a small world” open again. The attraction is full of holiday cheer from all over the world!

So, what exactly brought this attraction down for a month-long closure leading up to the holidays? Well, according to Jason Tomlin, manager of Ride Control Engineering at the Disneyland Resort, the maintenance room that is located underneath the attraction’s loading station was flooded while refilling the ride with water. And, by the time that Disney noticed, all of the electrical equipment (including the ride control machinery) was under 7 feet of water.

So, Disney engineers worked around the clock to pump out more than 200,000 gallons of water, bring in a dehumidifier to dry out the room, and replace parts in the hopes that the attraction could be back up and running before the holidays came to a close in the park.

And, they did just that! Guests can now hop on “it’s a small world” Holiday at Disneyland Park and take in all of the Christmas lights and music through January 9th, 2022.
