Disney Is Developing a New Musical Based on the Music of Lionel Ritchie!

Disney has always been known for stellar musical movies, from Beauty and the Beast and Frozen to live-action musicals such as Newsies and Mary Poppins.

Now Disney is about to add another musical move to its resume.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Disney and Lionel Richie have teamed up for a musical based on his extensive catalog of songs. The working title for the film is All Night Long, after Richie’s 1983 hit of the same name. Pete Chiarelli, who worked on Crazy Rich Asians and Now You See Me 2, has been hired by Disney to write the script for the film. It is said that this won’t be a biography, but just use Richie’s music.

Disney fans may know Richie as one of the judges on American Idol on ABC, where he judges alongside Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. We can’t wait to see All Night Long…the songs are stuck in our heads already!
