NEWS: Downtown Orlando Dealing With “Significant Odor” From Dead Fish

Downtown Orlando locals are reporting a new problem along Lake Beauty. If you’re in the Orlando area, you might catch a whiff of an unpleasant smell — the smell of dead fish. According to a new report from local news affiliate Click Orlando, a group of dead fish is causing a serious odor in the area.

The smell has caused several locals to report the incident to officials, and an Orlando Health employee commented on the situation as well.

If you’ve gone through Downtown Orlando and caught a bad whiff of something in the air, you’re not alone. According to Click Orlando, the Lake Beauty area, adjacent to Orlando Health, is filled with a “significant odor.” Dead fish have been spotted in the water near Orange Avenue.

A local resident noticed dead fish floating around the lake, and it’s unclear what’s causing the issue at this time.

One Orlando local told Click Orlando, “If you get close to that side where the construction guys are, you can smell the scent of dead fish.”

An Orlando Health employee commented on the situation, stating, “We are aware of the situation and determining next steps.”

Officials have yet to confirm the cause of the multiple dead fish or what’s being done with the fish. One local stated that they were concerned about the incident.
