One Magic Kingdom Store Looks Completely Different Today!

The Emporium, Magic Kingdom’s go-to merchandise shop, has been getting a facelift!

The Emporium in Magic Kingdom

Construction walls went up in January 2025 making the iconic store unrecognizable for a little while. Well, now we’re happy to report the construction walls have come down and it just got easier to shop in the Emporium!

First things first — it feels SO spacious in here! This store is known for getting crowded so the newly reopened space here will definitely help with that.

It’s so open!

Currently, a queue for the registers is taped on the floor.

Some of the flooring has also been replaced.

Here’s another look at the new tile flooring. This is the section of the store closest to Casey’s Corner. There are still some smaller construction walls up at the moment and based on the flooring at the moment, we expect more work to be done in the future. We’ll keep you updated with the latest!

Another look

This is how the store has looked for the past couple of months. Construction walls everywhere! Luckily there was still plenty of merchandise to shop

This is one of the smallest changes that’s happening in Magic Kingdom this year. Previously, Disney announced that Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America would permanently close. This is to make way for the brand new Cars-themed area coming to Frontierland. Just as soon as we get used to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure being open, the area will turn into a construction zone again!

An exact timeline for this project has not been revealed yet. With the announcement, which Disney made in August 2024, they said, “Ahead of work revving into high gear next year, guests will have plenty of time to experience the charm and nostalgia of Frontierland as it is today.” So we expect the closures to hit this year — it’s just unclear exactly when!

Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race.

That’s not to mention the current construction happening at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The popular coaster closed in January 2025 and won’t reopen until sometime in 2026…and we’ve been keeping an eye on the construction! Oh, and the new Villains Land is going “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain”, but luckily that construction is happening on new land and not disrupting or permanently closing part of the current park.
