It’s been over a year and a half since all the drama began with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Disney when he took over what was formerly known as Reedy Creek.

Legal battles ensued for months, only for the matter to end officially in June 2024. DeSantis now has a board of people he appoints who oversee the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (formerly Reedy Creek), and now he’s elected three new people to the board.
On February 14th, 2025, DeSantis announced the appointment of Alexis Yarbrough as Chair, John Gilbert, and Scott Workman to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. Before they can be officially appointed, they are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Alexis Yarbrough is current the Chair of the Broward College District Board of Trustees. She previously served as Chair and Commissioner on the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission and has her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and her juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University.

John Gilbert is currently the Executive Managing Director at Stream Realty Partners and was recognized as the Orlando Office Broker of the Year by the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, and Commercial Real Estate Development Association in 2007 and 2012. He has a bachelor’s degree in real estate from Florida State University.

Scott Workman is currently the Owner of Workman Transportation and Owner and President of Workman Travel and has been active in the transportation industry in Orlando for 25 years. He attended the University of Iowa.
