In a press conference on October 6th, DeSantis stated that Tropical Storm Milton could be “potentially an I-4 storm,” meaning its potential track could rip through a highly populated section of Florida along Interstate 4. I-4 enters Orange County, passes through Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando, and Universal Orlando, and intersects with several major toll roads.

The National Hurricane Center issued several key messages ahead of the storm, warning those living in Florida that the storm is forecast to “quickly intensify.” Residents are encouraged to have a hurricane plan in place and follow advice from officials.

Meteorologists predict that the storm will become a dangerous hurricane. When the storm hits Florida, it could bring life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding to Florida’s Gulf Coast and potentially even Central and Southern Florida.

Current models show the storm progressing towards Florida over the next few days, reaching land between Wednesday and Thursday.
