The price of binging your favorite Disney media is about to go up.

Disney is no stranger to price hikes, which is why the announcement that Disney+ and other Disney-owned streaming services are increasing subscription costs very soon was not a big surprise. We’ve got the details on everything you need to know and when you can expect the changes to occur.
Beginning October 17th, 2024, subscription costs for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ are going up. While most subscription plans will see a price hike, Disney+/Hulu bundles and the Disney+/Hulu/Max bundle will be left unchanged.

The NEW monthly pricing of the plans is as follows:
- Disney+ Basic (With Ads) — $9.99/month (Previous: $7.99)
- Disney+ Premium (No Ads) — $15.99/month (Previous: $13.99)
- Hulu (With Ads) — $9.99/month (Previous: $7.99)
- Hulu (Without Ads) — $18.99/month (Previous: $17.99)
- ESPN+ — $11.99/month (Previous: $10.99)
- Disney Bundle Trio Basic (With Ads) — $16.99/month (Previous: $14.99)
- Disney Bundle Trio Premium (Without Ads) — $26.99/month (Previous: $24.99)
- Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (With Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) — $82.99/month (Previous:$76.99)
- Hulu (Without Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (No Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) — $95.99/month (Previous: $89.99)
- Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (No Ads), and ESPN+ (With Ads) — $87.99/month (Previous: $81.99)
- Live TV Only — $81.99/month (Previous: $75.99)
The Hulu (With Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (No Ads) and ESPN+ (With Ads) plan is no longer available for purchase or to switch into but existing subscribers will be able to keep their plan as long as they do not cancel or change it.

In general, most of these price increases range between $1 and $2 each month. However, the plans including Live TV from Hulu have jumped up $6 each.
A few plans are also available to be purchased annually, including Disney+ (Without Ads) for $159.99 annually, Hulu (With Ads) for $99.99 annually, and ESPN+ for $119.99 annually.

Additionally, Disney announced extra fees and policies coming to Disney +. On September 25th, 2024, Disney revealed new details about its paid sharing program.
To crack down on password sharing in the U.S., Disney+ subscriptions will be limited to people and devices WITHIN the primary Household. If people outside of the primary residence want to use the Disney+ account, they will need to sign up and pay for their own subscription or be added as an Extra Member to the account for an additional monthly fee.

The Disney+ subscription Household is defined as “a collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside there.”
To watch Disney+ on devices when you’re away from the Household, Disney stated:
“If you’re on the go and you see the message ‘This TV doesn’t seem to be part of the Household for this account’, you can mark yourself as I’M AWAY FROM HOME, or select UPDATE HOUSEHOLD if you’ve recently moved and need to reset the Household location for your Disney+ subscription. These selections will require a one-time passcode that’s sent to the email address associated with the account.”

Account holders who want to add someone outside of their Household to their Disney+ subscription can pay an additional $6.99 per month per Extra Member for the Disney+ Basic subscription or $9.99 per month per Extra Member for the Disney+ Premium subscription.

Of note, only one Extra Member slot is available per account and Extra Members are not available for Disney Bundle subscribers or for subscribers billed through Disney’s partners.
An alternative to the Extra Member add-on is the ability to transfer profiles to new Disney+ subscriptions for people leaving the Household account. Minors’ profiles and profiles set to Junior Mode cannot be transferred.

These features and capabilities are now available in the U.S. Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
