Universal Announces 3 NEW Rides for Epic Universe

We were expecting some big news from Universal, and boy did they deliver!

It’s time to learn more about another land coming to Epic Universe — Isle of Berk inspired by How to Train Your Dragon! After a mysterious post on social media and a surprise in the mail, we expected the news, but if you’re a huge fan of rides, the announcement is exactly what you’ll want to hear!

Epic Universe just released a full look at the rides coming to the How to Train Your Dragon land! There are three rides, a show, a play area, and a character meet and greet. Let’s get into it!

First is the Hiccup’s Wing Gliders which is a family thrill coaster! The story is that Hiccup invites “new Vikings to take a ride on his latest glider contraption.”

The coaster reaches speeds of 45 mph and you can experience firsthand what it’s like to fly on a dragon!  It’s giving us Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure vibes (aka one of the best rides Universal has ever made), so we can’t wait to see it in action.

Fyre Drill is the next attraction and beware — it sounds like you WILL get wet! You will board a boat and compete to “outscore and out-soak” in a battle. Riders will blast water cannons at flame-like targets to practice putting out fires, a common occurrence when you live with dragons.

Then visitors will be able to ride the Dragon Racer’s Rally! “Practice aerobatic maneuvers and high-speed barrel rolls on two Viking-made dragon-riding trainers.” You’ll reach heights of 67 feet but you can control a bit of your ride — choose if you want a “wild” or “mild” experience.

Live entertainment is what makes a theme park and Universal just announced it is bringing The Untrainable Dragon show to Epic Universe! This is inspired by the popular “Untrainable” show from Universal Beijing Resort and features characters like Hiccup, Toothless, Gobber, and Astrid. You can expect musical numbers, life-sized dragons, and more!

Kiddos need a play area and Epic Universe is giving them just that. In the Viking Training Camp, Junior Vikings will learn about dragons through an interactive play camp with slides, bridges, and more. There’s even a “Viking agility course” and a Toothless-themed teeter-totter!

The rides look great and all, but this might be the best Epic Universe announcement so far. Yes, you’ll be able to meet Hiccup and Toothless! How cool is that? You may spot other familiar Vikings throughout the land as well…
