It’s a big day in the world of Disney water parks!

Each year since the 2020 shutdown, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have switched off operating — one opens to the public while the other undergoes maintenance. We’ve been able to experience Blizzard Beach this past year, but now it’s time for Typhoon Lagoon to finally reopen!
Today, March 17th, is the first day of operation for Typhoon Lagoon after its nearly 5-month-long closure. And of course, that means we’re here to tell you all about it! This is Disney’s oldest still-running water park, opening in 1989, and is themed to look like an island paradise that survived a raging typhoon.

At the front gates, things weren’t looking too busy (which made sense since it was only about 70 degrees on the morning of its opening), but there was still a line to purchase tickets and head in.

So suit up! We’re about to have a great day!

Our first stop was to check out the merchandise, and we noticed a new Stitch Typhoon Lagoon collection! It includes a Water Bottle…

…an adorable Sun Hat…

…and a new Long Sleeved Shirt that has the Typhoon Lagoon logo on the front!

The back of the shirt features a silhouette of Typhoon Lagoon and the words “Catch A Wave” as Stitch runs with a surfboard over his head beside it!

And speaking of Stitch, we hopped in line to meet him right after! He showed us exactly how our arms should be when we’re surfing — thanks for the lesson, Stitch! We asked a Cast Member if he’ll be a constant staple in the park, and we were told it’s sorta a surprise when he’ll be there or not. So if you see him, be sure to stop by and say hello!

By this point, Quincy was ready to try out some of the new food offerings available, so she grabbed the Dole Whip Bathtub Sundae for $15.99. It has three massive swirls of Pineapple DOLE Whip, Strawberry DOLE Whip, and Green Matcha Tea soft-serve.

And yes, you get to keep the bathtub! It’s a pretty expensive treat, but it’s HUGE and totally shareable between you and a friend (or you can just eat it by yourself, we 1000% are not judging).

Typhoon Lagoon’s reopening means that Blizzard Beach is officially closed as it undergoes maintenance for the next year. Disney has not said how long Blizzard Beach will be closed and Typhoon Lagoon open, but we’ll be keeping an eye out!

We’ll be updating this post throughout the day as we experience the first day back, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
