Spirit Airlines is one of the busiest airlines at Orlando International Airport.

Last year, Spirit Airlines had the second most travelers through the Orlando Airport, according to the Orlando Business Journal. Now, they plan to build on their numbers by adding and expanding international flights to and from Orlando.
International travel has remained fairly low, compared to pre-pandemic numbers, especially in Orlando. According to the Orlando Business Journal, “Before the pandemic, the airport’s domestic-to-international flight split was 87% to 13%. However, now that split is 94% domestic flights and 6% international.”

Spirit Airlines plans to shift back toward more international flights. They announced that they will resume international flights to and from the Orlando Airport, beginning immediately.

Here’s a list of the new flights that Spirit Airlines will add, courtesy of the Orlando Business Journal:
- Cancun, Mexico: Daily flights start immediately
- Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: Flights three times per week start immediately
- Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: Flights four times per week start immediately

- St. Louis, Missouri: Daily flights start immediately
- Manchester, New Hampshire: Daily flights start October 7th

I flew Spirit on a short, 2 hour, trip that seems more like a 4 hour trip. I cannot imagine the misery an international flight on Spirit would be.
