2020 was quite the year for Disney+ as the Walt Disney Company shifts its focus to direct-to-consumer programming through the subscription service.

Following the release of Pixar’s Soul, Bob Chapek, CEO of Walt Disney Company, announced that the Disney+ streaming service had over 86 Million subscribers. And, that number is on the rise as more people are signing up to stream the latest episodes of WandaVision.
Today, Disney shared that, as of January 2nd, 2021, there are nearly 95 million Disney+ subscribers.

Disney hopes to continue to increase the number of Disney+ subscriptions to 230-260 million by 2024 and is set to release hundreds of more titles directly to the streaming platform throughout the next few years.

UBS Analysts believe that Disney will even surpass that expectation by 2024, competing with streaming platforms like Netflix why have over 340 million subscribers.
