Disney Helps the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s 500,000th Wish Come True

Disney granted its first wish with the Make-A-Wish Foundation 40 years ago at Disneyland Resort.

Since then, Disney and Make-A-Wish have made over 140,000 wishes come true. During the 40th anniversary of this partnership, Disney helped make the foundation’s 500,000th wish a reality.

This 500,000th wish was from 16-year old Karina. Her ultimate wish was to “give kids a day to forget they’re sick,” and she always talks about how much she loved summer camps. Make-A-Wish collaborated with Karina to create an online event named “Kamp Karina” which included a magic show, science class, story time, and special surprises from Disney!

Usually different parts of the Disney company get to grant wishes, but for this one, the whole company got involved. The Walt Disney Animation Studios provided a Frozen based drawing class featuring a Disney animator and voice of Olaf, Josh Gad.

ESPN allowed 32 wish kids, including Karina, to be in the virtual stands for an NBA game. Disney Parks Experiences and Products hosted a Disney Family Game Night and finished the night with a fireworks show. You can watch the full story of “Kamp Karina” below.
