For the first time in 50 years, San Diego Comic-Con was cancelled but reborn as Comic-Con@Home, a virtual convention taking place on the same originally scheduled dates but accessible to anyone without tickets or hotel reservations or interminable lines required.

While the convention took place last weekend, part of the beauty of the concept is that the (prerecorded) panels went live at scheduled times, but continue to be available for viewing at your convenience. As of now, there is no announced take down date for them.
You can check out the entire schedule of presentations with links to all their associated videos here, but here are a few you may want to check out:
The three previously announced Disney+ panels covered several of their many owned franchises, with one from Marvel, animation, and National Geographic.
Marvel’s 616 is an anthology documentary series taking a deep dive into some of the many historical facets and details of the huge Marvel Universe legacy. Each episode has a different director at the helm, telling a unique story with a specific viewpoint. Talking about how it all came together were directors Gillian Jacobs, Paul Scheer, and executive producers Sarah Amos and Jason Sterman, with moderator Angélique Roché.
In a preview clip from “Lost and Found,” director Paul Scheer investigates some of the forgotten characters of Marvel comics.
Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe, coming to Disney+ on August 28, 2020, shows stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb setting out across the galaxy to rescue their older sister Candace. Finally taking center stage in this film, Candace experiences alien abduction but finds utopia in a far-off planet, free of pesky little brothers. Discussing the origin of the series and the creation of this new entry in the Phineas and Ferb story were creators and executive producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, director Bob Bowen and stars Ashley Tisdale, Vincent Martella, Maulik Pancholy, and Dee Bradley Baker.
Included in the panel was a sneak peek of the upcoming movie’s opening song, “Such A Beautiful Day.”
The Right Stuff will be the first scripted series from National Geographic premiering this Fall on Disney+. Based on the famous Tom Wolfe novel of the same name, it tells the story of America’s first astronauts, the Mercury Seven, during the early days of the U.S. Space Program.
The large panel was moderated by former NASA Astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison, and featured cast members Patrick J. Adams (“Major John Glenn”), Jake McDorman (“Lieutenant Commander Alan Shepard”), Colin O’Donoghue (“Captain Gordon Cooper”), Michael Trotter (“Gus Grissom”), Aaron Staton (“Wally Schirra”), Micah Stock (“Deke Slayton”), James Lafferty (“Scott Carpenter”), Nora Zehetner (“Annie Glenn”), Shannon Lucio (“Louise Shepard”), Eloise Mumford (“Trudy Cooper”), Eric Ladin (“Chris Kraft”), and Patrick Fischler (“Bob Gilruth”), Showrunner and Executive Producer Mark Lafferty, and Executive Producer Jennifer Davisson. An aspirational tale of a time when people came together to achieve the extraordinary, it seeks to remind people in these difficult times of what can be done with a liberal amount of ambition, science, and hope.
Once Upon A Time fans will remember O’Donoghue as Captain Hook, while park enthusiasts can check out the Disneyland fun map on Fischler’s wall.
Of course, these three are only the tip of the iceberg of what Comic-Con@Home has to offer the pop culture aficionado. Next time, we’ll take a look at even more panels, along with an overlook at how SDCC tried to translate the whole con-going experience into an online extravaganza.
