But, can you imagine a theme park where people leave with cuts, bruises, and missing teeth? Back in the 1980’s, Action Park was an amusement park with water slides, go-carts, and other attractions that happened to be some of the most dangerous places in theme park history.

Hulu is in the process of creating a show based on the upcoming book Action Park: Fast Times, Wild Rides and the Untold Story of America’s Most Dangerous Amusement Park.

The novel being released on June 30th by Andy Mulvihill and Jake Rossen will be adapted for the screen to follow the story of how Action Park was built and all the problems that came from it. According to Penguin Random House, the story is told through the eyes of the founder’s son, Andy Mulvihill, to describe how Action Park (which also earned itself nicknames such as Traction Park, Accident Park, and Class-Action Park) affected his family and the people who visited the amusement park.

The wild theme park didn’t have many safety procedures, so hundreds of people were injured during their visits and seven people even died, according to the New Jersey Herald’s investigations. Action Park featured dangerous attractions like the 360-degree vertical loop water slide and slides with 10-foot drops into pool areas.
