NEWS: Star Wars Celebration 2020 Has Officially Been Cancelled

Due to the global health crisis, many planned events and gatherings for the year have been cancelled.

Because of this, many had wondered what the fate would be for Star Wars Celebration 2020, an annual event that was set to take place this August in Anaheim. And now, we have an official announcement on the status of the event.

According to an update on their website, Star Wars Celebration 2020 has been cancelled. In a note to guests, the Star Wars Celebration Team wrote that, “At Star Wars Celebration, the health and safety of our fans, attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff is always our number one priority. Due to the global impact of the COVID-19 virus and in speaking with local and state authorities on the latest public health guidelines related to indoor conventions, we have made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration for 2020.”

The team did announce that the event would be returning to the Anaheim Convention Center in the future, for Star Wars Celebration 2022, which will take place August 18th to 21st, 2022.

For guests that had already purchased tickets, they can either choose to transfer their current ticket to the new event dates, receive a refund, or receive a credit for Star Wars Celebration merchandise. If guests would like a refund, they will be able to request one between June 22nd and August 26th.

For guests that choose to transfer their tickets to the 2022 date, they will also receive a free exclusive Star Wars Celebration stormtrooper character pin! The pin will be automatically shipped to guests who opt to transfer their tickets to 2022 instead of requesting a refund.
