But there are also a few things that may surprise you! (You know…beyond bouncing in a hunny pot with a tigger.)
Some of these aren’t as exciting as you may imagine when first hearing them — but if anyone can make a haircut fun, it’s the Magic Kingdom!
Five Things You’ll Be Shocked You Can Do at Magic Kingdom
1. Get a haircut.
Did you know you can get your mop snipped right on Main Street USA? And no — it’s not just for the little ones!
Yes, you can get baby’s first haircut here (and it’s oh so cute), but you can also get a trim for any full fledged adult man or woman. The Cast Members here are licensed cosmetologists! You can also get pixie dust and glitter in anyone’s hair — which is an inexpensive way to add a little magic into your day at Magic Kingdom.
2. Go Into the “Tunnels”
If you’re a Disney history nerd, you probably know that there’s a series of tunnels under Magic Kingdom that allows Cast Members to exit and enter in the various lands on stage — as if by magic. (They aren’t actually tunnels — Magic Kingdom is built on a swamp so it’s actually first floor corridors.) But did you know you can actually go into them?!
That’s right — if you take a Keys to the Kingdom Tour, you’ll be able to see the iconic “tunnels” for yourself! You’ll also learn some of the exciting history, details, and operations of the park — we highly recommend it for any Disney buff!

3. Ride a 100 Year Old Vehicle — Or Two
The Magic Kingdom itself hasn’t even hit 50 yet, but did you know you can hop aboard two century-old vehicles?
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel in Fantasyland originally lived in Detroit, Michigan and was built in 1917. It was purchased in the 1960’s and restored to fit the Cinderella story before it became an opening day attraction in Magic Kingdom.
Additionally, one of the four steam train engines on the Walt Disney World Railroad is over a hundred years old — the Roy O. Disney was built in 1916. All of the steam engines were found in Mexico in 1969 and then brought to Florida to be restored for use at Magic Kingdom.
4. Get Up Close and Personal with the Grim Grinning Ghosts
You’ve probably been on the Haunted Mansion multiple times, but have you ever wondered how they did that?
Guests on the Walt Disney: From Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour get the opportunity to go backstage and get up close and personal with one of Disney’s most iconic attractions.

5. Visit a Federally Recognized Presidential Museum
If you’ve enjoyed the Hall of Presidents, then you may have noticed there’s a sizable display of presidential artifacts and memorabilia in the waiting area.
From George W. Bush’s boots to dishes used by George Washington, this display has a huge, and surprising, collection of authentic presidential goods. Because of this, the Hall of Presidents has been recognized as a Federal Presidential Museum — which is a great way to justify pulling the kids of of school for a Disney vacay.
This sounds amazing. I go to Disney World every year since 1999. As a kid on family vacation went to Disney yj58land when it first opened in 1973 or 1972. I love Florida Disney World and it really is Magical
My teenage son got his haircut at the Barbershop on a Main Street. He has happy to report to his friends that his “getting ready for school” cut was from Disney!
Yes did Keys tour in 1996. I just found my pin from the tour. It was very interesting! I wonder if Molly used a little whip thingy tipped in glow in the dark stuff for the Haunted Mansion ride like our guide did. I remember she was trying to power it up with the light from the portraits in the stretch room before we loaded. It was funny and fun!
