Disney Vacation Club Extends Temporary Closures at Beach Resorts and Aulani

Yesterday we learned that both Disneyland and Disney World would be extending their temporary closures.

We’ve also learned that this closure extends to Disney Vacation Club resorts.

Disney announced the extension of the temporary closures of their DVC properties including Vero Beach Resort, Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani Resort and Spa. Like the theme parks, these resort closures will remain in effect until further notice.

Disney will be automatically cancelling all reservations scheduled for arrival during the closure on a week-by-week basis. The notices states that members do not need to cancel the reservations themselves or contact Disney at this time.

Disney established a temporary cancelation policy which outlines the impact on Members’ Use Year, point banking, and expirations. In wake of the temporary closure, Disney has “lifted the close-in reservation cancellation restrictions”. Some decisions have not been finalized, however, including Members who are reaching the end of their Use Year. It seems as though there are still several unknowns on how the situation will impact DVC operations moving forward, and Disney is currently delaying decisions until a later date.

In the meantime, Disney states that both Vacation Points and Reservation points will not be placed in a holding account and will be returned to their current Use Year.

  1. We were given points back because our trip a few weeks ago was cancelled. However, they were points that needed to be used by May 31st and that won’t happen as there isn’t anything available, if they even open. Seems harsh.

    1. Same for me. I have to use the 255 pts by May 31. Nothing is available or open. I can’t bank because they are “Reservation” points. Big ripoff. Not my fault Disney cancelled my reservation. A lot of DVC owners are pissed. Believe me, the Mouse will hear an earful.
