Is it a bird? is it a plane? It’s Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and more of your friends from Pixar! Alaska Airlines recently unveiled their special-edition plane named “Friendship and Beyond at Disneyland Resort.”
The new plane pays tribute to Disney California Adventure‘s Pixar Pier in a very colorful way.
The 737-800, tail number N537AS, plane has already hit the skies with its first departure from Seattle bound for Orange County with a stop in San Francisco for a gate ceremony.
The design is the result of a collaboration between Alaska Airlines, the Disneyland Resort, and Pixar Animation Studios. It took more than 2,800 work hours and 24 days using 50 gallons of paint in 44 primary colors and custom shades to bring the design the life. Watch this time-lapse video of the process.
