Contributing photographer Jason of disneygeek.com sends us these photos from the parks on Candlelight Processional at Disneyland on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
Main Street is ready for the Candlelight season to begin. This year instead of only two nights there will be shows on twenty nights. It will be interesting to see how that works, since it is still being held at the Main Street Train Station. One change: The Christmas Fantasy Parade does not go around Town Square – it turns at the Christmas tree.

There are seats for the Candlelight Processional (for the opening weekend seats were for distributed as they normally have been to Club 33 members and community supporters as a thank you. But the other 18 nights the seats were made available to Annual Passholders via a lottery), but there is standing space available around Town Square and on Main Street on a first come, first serve basis for those who do not have tickets.

Spotted some Candlelight merchandise. Here are the sweatshirts and t-shirts.

As well as an ornament and mug.

Some photos from the standing area of the first Candlelight Ceremony of the season.

The guest narrator this evening was Dennis Haysbert (he was in The Unit as well as AllState Commercials). Unfortunately he did not look up that often while reading so all my pictures look like this more or less.

A couple video clips from the ceremony including some of the narration, What Child is This and Silent Night. Note this was shot freehand with my DSLR camera so the zooming and panning are nowhere near smooth!
The Voices of Liberty are part of the show this year, but the song selection and arrangements are still those that are traditional to Disneyland, and not the version from Epcot. (You can see both song lists HERE.)

Another clip from the show, this one with my small video camera, enjoy mostly for the audio because the video is not that good.
From where I was I could just barely see one of the trumpet players on the roof.

A closer look

Another video clip.

Silent Night

A video clip of the Silent Night segment.

A wide shot of the area during Silent Night.

As the show was wrapping up I made my way around to the City Hall side of the street.
Managed to get one nice shot showing where the trumpets are. The plan is next time I see the show to watch from this side.

Soon after the second show cast members were busy stacking the chairs from the Candlelight and clearing the street.

One last look at the Castle before heading out.

One side effect of the Candlelight running is the impact on the rest of the park schedule. For example on Saturday, the Christmas Fantasy Parade has to be over in time to set up so it runs at 1:00 and 3:30 (on days with a single run it is scheduled at 4:00pm). Also it pushes Believe back to its 9:30pm time slot and most of the Wintertime Enchantment (snow moments) are cancelled. This has a ripple effect and over at DCA World of Color is pushed to 9:00 and 10:15 and the Mad T Party to 7pm starts.
Hope you enjoyed this highlight tour of the Disneyland Resort. For additional photos and details from this trip you can check out the full Disneyland Update I posted on my site, http://disneygeek.com Also be sure to follow me on twitter @disneygeekcom for pictures from the parks.
