Contributing photographer Jason of disneygeek.com sends us these photos from his trip to the parks on Friday, December 7, 2012.
First park today, Disneyland.
Guests in the few stand by seats already waiting for the Candlelight.
The reserved seats are not even set up yet for the day.
A Christmas Fantasy Parade making its way toward Town Square.
Had a request for more of the Candlelight merchandise. So here are a couple pictures.
Still wish they sold a CD of the Disneyland version. Wonder how many guests buy this and then listen and realize it is not the show they saw.
Indiana Jones was in a soft opening phase today, official opening is Saturday. So that meant no Fastpasses and a smooth moving line.
I opted for single rider (which I think turned out to be a longer wait than the regular line)
Now some random pictures from on board. The changes were mostly routine, lighting, and some safety items from what I have seen/read.
The rock work along the Big Thunder trail is out from behind the scaffolding and looks as good as new. Interesting they only did a small portion. Wonder if this is a test for the larger Big Thunder project next year?
What a contrast.
Stopped by the Jingle Jangle Jamboree. Minnie and Goofy were out for pictures.
The Fantasyland Theater sign is being redone.
The new control booth is receiving its roof.
The Dapper Dans of Disneyland performing Christmas in Killarney
The crews were starting to set up the chairs for this evenings Candlelight.
Next stop Buena Vista Street.
Stopped by the Cafe to see if the gingerbread creation was out.. it was not. Also the garland that was over the counter is all removed too.
Stopped by the Grand Californian to relax a bit and take in a concert by the Dickens Carolers.
A clip of Jingle Bells.
A clip of Carol of the Bells
They performed for about half an hour taking requests the entire time. Only a couple they did not know.
A clip of Mary Did You Know?
On the way back to the parks walked through World of Disney, noticed this banner.. not even a generic DisneyParks. It actually says Walt Disney World and has Cinderella Castle.
Stopped by Taste Pilots for an early dinner. Noticed holiday desserts available for purchase.
Then it was off to Cars Land for the lighting event.
Sarge’s Flag was at half staff in memory of Pearl Harbor Day.
Still wish they would keep the red and green lights on or sequence them on for some songs. As of now I have only seen them on during the lighting event.
Random picture of Ornament Valley from Flos
As I stood there taking pictures heard O Holy Tractor come on and thought I would grab a quick video clip to share the audio, so here is the tail end of the song.
Red passing by.
Arrived on Buena Vista Street just in time for the Tree Lighting.
Found a spot on Main Street with a few minutes to spare before Candlelight was to begin.
A wide shot of the scene in Town Square this evening.
Show time…
The guest narrator this evening was Edward James Olmos
A video clip of Candlelight Carol
What Child is This? Video clip.
Video clip of Joy to the World and Silent Night
Video clip of Edward James Olmos reading from A Solitary Life essay.
Nancy taking her bow at the end.
The scene on Main Street as the Candlelight guests head back into the park.
There were lanes set up for those waiting for the next show and to keep traffic flowing.
Looking back at the tree with the Candlelight spotlights still on.
A very poor video of the Small World quarter hour projection show. The show itself was a shell of its former self and this video makes it look even worse (but you can get the drift.
A couple stills from the show.
I arrived on Main Street as the 7:30pm Candlelight Processional was getting started. Here the choir is making its way onto Main Street.
I arrived in Town Square just as the show was starting.
Since I had seen the show earlier I headed across the Esplanade to DCA.
The Schmooties sign has seen better days.
Stopped by the Animation Building. The Cars segment is one of my favorites and it was on as I entered.
A clip of This Christmas being performed by the Mad T Party Band, the Mad Hatter, and Alice.
Walked down Sunset Blvd.
Next stop Cars Land.
Another look at the lights on the oil can (the red/white lights hanging off the Flos Cafe sign)
A picture of snow on Main Street to end with.
