NEWS: Fire Breaks Out Under Six Flags Magic Mountain Roller Coaster

When it comes to theme parks in California, most folks might think immediately of Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Knott’s Berry Farm. However, there’s also Six Flags Magic Mountain, which is a pretty popular theme park in its own right (and the theme park just opened a brand new land).

However, a situation occurred recently at Six Flags Magic Mountain where a fire broke out. Here’s what happened.

According to KTLA, a brush fire broke out on June 11th underneath a Six Flags Magic Mountain roller coaster. Footage taken at the scene showed a palm tree in flames underneath the X2 roller coaster, which is located on the west side of the park.

The fire spread to other trees and brush nearby and ended up burning about half an acre of land. The area was blanketed in smoke during the fire. Fire crews, though, worked quickly to stop the fire before it could damage nearby buildings and rides.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, both the X2 and Viper roller coasters were closed while the fire blazed as a precaution. Firefighters extinguished the fire in 20 minutes, and both rides reopened later.

As a result, the park did not issue any evacuations, and no injuries were reported by guests visiting the park or firefighting personnel. Investigators did stick around the park to keep an eye out for other potential fire hazards. However, an investigation is still ongoing as to what caused the fire.
