The time we’ve been dreading has finally arrived. All you fans of OG Islands of Adventure, grab your tissues.

It looks like the first steps have finally been taken to start removing the exterior of Poseidon’s Fury, and we are so sad!
Believe it or not, the beloved opening day attraction permanently closed its doors almost three years ago.

This attraction was a themed experience that took you to many rooms in a tour through the sunken Temple of Poseidon. In typical universal ride fashion, things went wrong!

While this attraction was not the most advanced or thrilling experience, we do miss the unique theme and, of course, the early 2000s nostalgia of those show graphics. However, despite being closed for almost three years, the facade has sat untouched in Lost Continent.

That all is about to change as we have finally seen progress being made towards the removal of the exterior.

Construction walls have officially been placed around the outside of Poseidon’s Fury, and while we don’t know the specific timeline, we can assume this means they will slowly be dismantling these big set pieces, including the temple exterior and Poseidon’s Trident.Â

This is coming alongside the plans to eventually remove the entirety of Lost Continent to make room for announced future projects.

Currently, there is not much in Lost Continent except for a few shops, quick service dining, and of course, the main attraction of the land, the Mythos Restaurant.

However, this popular and critically acclaimed restaurant will remain open during the first phases of construction. Universal hasn’t said if they will be closing this restaurant, but it’s hard to assume it will stay open once this land begins to change.

While we are sad to see what’s left of Lost Continent go, we are excited to see what Universal does with this space and what new experiences will come to Islands of Adventure in its place!

We will update on any future Lost Continent construction news, so make sure to follow All Ears so you never miss any Universal or Disney news!
