Staying at a Walt Disney World hotel has been a major part of the resort’s experience since the very beginning — literally, the Contemporary and Polynesian resorts were two of the Vacation Kingdom’s opening day highlights — with millions of guests staying across the property’s 25+ hotels over the last 50 years. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any issues.

Recently, we took to Facebook to ask our readers, “What are some glaring problems at Disney World hotels that need to be fixed ASAP?” and there was no shortage of answers, including one major issue that came up over and over again.
As we read through the litany of responses, our readers provided a varied number of issues. Some, like reader Lorie, brought up very specific room issues like wanting “Storage!! Hooks, little shelves, towel bars near the bathtubs.” Others, like Bryan, brought up property issues, questioning why Disney doesn’t provide Disney+ on in-room television sets.

Then there was Magical Express. A litany of readers lamented the former service, which carried Disney guests and their luggage from Orlando International Airport to their Disney hotel “free of charge,” AKA included in the price of their stay.

However, there was one issue mentioned over and over again: The lack of late-night food options. Most of Disney’s quick service options at their hotels close at 11:00, which, while not exactly “early,” means that many guests who stay at the parks until they close are left out of luck upon their return to their hotel. This is especially an issue for guests visiting a park that’s on the opposite end of the property from their hotel.

For example, on a night when the Magic Kingdom closes at 10:00 PM, it will likely take guests about an hour to get back to Pop Century, where the Everything Pop! shop and food court closes at 11:00 PM. While we obviously understand that these outlets need to close for the night, an extra hour of operation could potentially make a massive difference for many guests.

As reader Jesikka put it, “Food after 11pm is nearly impossible to find. Magic kingdom doesn’t even close until 11 and even later for parties. Even some of the most basic of hotels even have a little snack area 24 hours, even if it’s just snacks and not hot food. It’s kind of ridiculous when you think about it.”

Other commonly cited issues from our readers included wanting “better” toilet paper and in-room coffee options, and the returns of room service (which might help with the overall late-night food issue), daily housekeeping, and package delivery from the parks directly to guests’ rooms.

While there were many Disney hotel issues that got our readers riled up, the biggest by far was the lack of late-night snack options at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Stay tuned to AllEars for more thoughts from our readers, and if you’re interested in sharing your thoughts on this, or any other Disney or travel-related topic, follow us on the AllEars Facebook to join in on the next conversation!
