Everyone, REMAIN CALM! Disneyland Paris is opening a World of Frozen land very soon, and along with it, we’re getting new attractions, foods, and more.

For the first time ever, guests will also be able to see Olaf roaming! Yes, Olaf himself will be exploring the land, and Disney just gave us the first look at this iconic character in the park.
A self-walking Olaf is coming to Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disney! In their We Call It Imagineering series on YouTube, Disney shared that they are going to be debuting these “next generation robotics” early in 2026.

The video showed off what the robotic prototype looked like during development! The character walked on its own and even spoke to Imagineers and Josh D’Amaro, who is the Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Olaf was shown walking around the new World of Frozen land in Disneyland Paris, which is opening in Spring 2026. We are actually blown away looking at this video because he looks SO REAL! That is actual Disney magic on display.

Disney Imagineer Michel den Dulk said Olaf represents the “latest in technology and storytelling.” Michel is one of the lead designers on this project and also worked on the World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disney, which was the first of its kind.

Olaf will also have a snow-like shimmer that was enhanced by iridescent fibers. Disney shared that details like this made him “one of the most expressive and true-to-life characters built.” They also shared blueprints of what the technology looks like inside the character! How cool is that?

Olaf’s animatronic form is built upon different designs like the BDX droids that roam around Galaxy’d Edge. Disney shared that compared to the DBX droids, “Olaf presents a far greater challenge: an animated character with non-physical movements.” To make the character as authentic as possible, Disney “used a branch of artificial intelligence called reinforcement learning, pushing the limits of hardware to achieve the creative intent of the artists.”

Olaf’s “snow,” which is the outer layer of the character, moves differently from the hard shells of other robotic characters. He can fully articulate his mouth, eyes, and removable carrot nose and arms. You can see the full video here! The Olaf section begins around the 2-minute mark.
Disney also shared a video on TikTok where you can hear Olaf saying, “This is the best day of my life!”
@disneyparks From screen to reality, the next-generation robotic character representing Olaf marks a new chapter in Disney character innovation ☃️
How sweet is that? They show how Olaf can talk with people around him and even remove his carrot nose. We couldn’t be more impressed right now! As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news and updates.
