David Warner, a British actor known for his roles in Tron and The Omen, has passed away.

Warner was 80 years old when he passed away in London from a cancer-related illness this past Sunday, according to Variety.
Warner’s family shared that the actor “approached his [cancer] diagnosis with a characteristic grace and dignity.” They also shared that he was “a kind-hearted, generous and compassionate man, partner and father, whose legacy of extraordinary work has touched the lives of so many over the years.”

Warner was nominated for an Emmy for his role in the 1978 miniseries Holocaust and won an Emmy for his role in Masada. He also had a role as Admiral Boom in Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns.

Some other movies he appeared in over the years include Penny Dreadful, Titanic, Planet of the Apes, and The Omen. The last movie is considered “one of the seminal horror movies of the 1970s.”

In Disney’s Tron, Warner played the villain Dilllinger beside Jeff Bridges (who played the hero). He appeared in Star Trek movies as well, including Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. He also was part of Doctor Who as the voice of Lord Azlok in the Dreamland series.

Warner was born in Manchester, England, and moved around often due to his father’s job changes. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and appeared in several stage shows while there. He is survived by his son Luke, daughter-in-law Sarah, and his partner Lisa Bowerman.
Our condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.
