Just days after Emma Watts, President of 20th Century Studios, resigned from her post, another executive in a company recently acquired by Disney is also stepping down.
Randy Freer, CEO of Hulu, announced his resignation last week, amid Disney’s continued takeover of the streaming giant.
Freer, who became CEO in 2017, has not shared his reasons for leaving, but will remain with the company for the next several weeks to ease the transition. Afterwards, remaining Hulu executives will report to Disney direct-to-consumer division directly.
Hulu, which produces original content like Margaret Atwood adaptation The Handmaid’s Tale, the Stephen King inspired Castle Rock, and Marvel adaptation Runaways, is targeted at a more mature audience than the family-friendly Disney+, and is currently available as part of a bundle with the new service.
