Calling all Universal Studios Hollywood Passholders, you need to hear this announcement!

A couple of weeks ago, the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster soft-opened at Universal Studios Hollywood. The attraction was said to open in the summer of 2026, but there was never an official opening date. We’re getting closer because Universal just announced passholder previews!
It was just announced that Pass Members can be among the first to ride the new first-ever high-speed outdoor roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Hollywood!

To get the preview, Pass Members will need to make a reservation in advance. Preview dates are from August 19th to August 23rd, but you can RSVP for your preview day starting now.

We also got to see the ride in action during its “Technical Rehearsal”, and this ride is WILD to look at once you see it in person. Without a doubt, this ride is going to be amongst the park’s most popular, if not THE most popular attraction.

If you’re wondering how Pass Members would be the first to experience the ride during the previews if there were a “soft opening”, we’d say that’s a valid question. However, a technical rehearsal means that some elements of the ride may not work, and the ride can close at any time. Think of it like a testing period, but guests can ride.

During the rehearsal, there was no music in the cars, except for the sounds the ride has itself. It wasn’t clear if that meant the music wasn’t working or if the cars just won’t have music at all, but regardless, the previews will be the first time riders can experience the attraction in all its glory.

During testing, we heard chatter of the ride being similar to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in Disney World, which is what we expected considering each of the cars having their own turning feature. It’s also being compared to VelociCoaster in Universal Islands of Adventure. Two of our favorite attractions being combined? Yeah, we’re so ready!

The ride provides awesome views, powerful launches, and a VERY smooth ride. When you see it in person, it definitely looks intense! Another thing that has been talked about is how loud it is.

If you’re based in Florida, don’t worry, a similar coaster will make its way over to Universal Studios Orlando next year. However, they have not announced exactly when it will open. Construction is underway, and we’ll make sure to update you as it continues.
