An Epic Universe Ride Is CLOSING Tomorrow

If you’re planning a trip to Epic Universe this week, you might want to adjust your plans.

Fyre Drill

Epic Universe hasn’t even celebrated its first birthday yet, but one of the park’s most popular attractions is already heading into a brief closure. Water rides typically get some downtime during the cooler months, and it looks like Fyre Drill is next on the list. Starting tomorrow, you’ll have to wait a bit before you can soak your friends on this Isle of Berk favorite.

What’s Happening With Fyre Drill?

According to the Universal Orlando website, Fyre Drill will be temporarily unavailable from February 1st through February 7th, 2026. That’s a full week where guests won’t be able to experience this interactive water battle, which is one of the shorter closures we’ve seen for attraction maintenance at the resort.

Universal hasn’t given us a specific reason for the downtime, but if we had to guess, it’s probably just routine upkeep. When a ride operates continuously for months on end, it’s going to need some attention to keep everything running smoothly. This kind of preventative maintenance is totally normal, especially for water attractions that have a lot of moving parts.

Why Water Rides Close in Winter

You’ll notice that both Universal and Disney tend to schedule refurbishments for their water rides during the winter months, and there’s a pretty good reason for that. When it’s cold outside, these attractions see way fewer riders, which makes it the perfect time to do repairs without disappointing too many guests.

Fyre Drill

We were at Epic Universe recently, and let me tell you, Fyre Drill was basically a ghost town all day. The wait time didn’t crack five minutes, and honestly, I don’t think anyone wanted to get drenched when temperatures were as low as they were. On warmer winter days, we’ve seen it reach maybe 15 to 20 minutes, but that’s still nothing compared to what it’ll probably be like once summer hits.

What You’re Missing

For those who haven’t experienced it yet, Fyre Drill is an absolute blast when the weather cooperates. Located in the Isle of Berk area, this water boat ride has a fun storyline where Ruffnut and Tuffnut have turned Berk’s Fyre Skööl into a chaotic boat battle arena.

You’ll climb into your boat and use water cannons to blast flame-shaped targets while also aiming at other boats around you. Hit the right targets, and you’ll unleash a waterfall on your unsuspecting neighbors. It’s interactive, competitive, and you will absolutely get soaked. Pro tip: There are waterproof containers at both ends of the boat where you can stash your phone and other valuables, so take advantage of those!

Plan Accordingly

If Fyre Drill is on your must-do list, you’ll want to visit Epic Universe either before tomorrow or after February 7th. The good news is that one week isn’t too long to wait, and when it reopens, it should be running even better than before.

Fyre Drill!

Water rides need love, too, and we’d much rather Universal take the time now to fix any little issues than have something break down during peak season when everyone wants to ride.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more closures in Epic Universe, as well as the rest of Universal Orlando, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
