Changes are in store for going through Transportation and Security Administration screening at airports.

For the first time in years, the TSA seems to be relaxing its policies — including potentially increasing the liquid allowance in carry-ons. Another rule that’s become second nature at security has finally gone away — but it’s causing a bit of chaos in the process.
On a recent trip back to Orlando, one of our reporters was going through TSA security at St. Louis Lambert Airport, but things weren’t going as smoothly as they could have been. You see, TSA recently confirmed that at most airports, travelers will NOT need to remove their shoes when going through security. This was the case on this particular day, at this particular airport.

But, it seemed like folks hadn’t quite gotten the memo yet, as several people were still removing their shoes — slowing things down.
We can’t really blame them, though, since this is a relatively new change and things can be SO different from one airport to the next — and even one terminal to the next. As these new TSA rules roll out, it can be hard to know which airports have updated their rules and which have not.

If you’re flying soon, make sure you pay attention to the rules at the specific airport you’re at. Typically, TSA officers will advise what needs to be removed when going through security. And, if you’re still unsure — just ask them!
Chances are these changes will be slowly rolling out at airports across the United States, so it’s possible that your mileage may vary from airport to airport for a little bit.
