A Disney Theme Park FIRST Is Coming to the New Park in Abu Dhabi

Disney recently announced that it’s building its seventh park on Yas Island of Abu Dhabi. While Disney has been quiet about its plans for the park, we’ve been getting small snippets of what it will be.

They’ve been clear that the park will be “authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati” and be “anchored by a beautiful waterfront — which will allow us to tell our stories in completely new ways.” It will be built by the Miral Group and designed by Disney.

In an interview with the CEO of Miral Group, Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, announced that the park will be indoors, which will be Disney’s first primarily indoor park.

Al Zaabi said, “We have the other theme parks indoors, so Disney would be an indoor theme park.”

Warner Bros. World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, is almost entirely indoors. Even larger roller coasters load and unload inside but have their track outside the building. It has 29 rides and is the region’s largest indoor theme park with six unique lands.

An indoor theme park can be temperature-controlled, and besides the larger roller coasters that go outside, most rides can stay open throughout the day, no matter what is happening outside.

The idea of convenience was mentioned multiple times in the interview. Al Zaabi and his team want the park to be as convenient as possible, including arriving at the new Disney Park.

No timeline has been announced for the park, but Shanghai Disneyland, the most recent Disney Park to be developed, took about two years of planning and five years to build.
