runDisney hosts events throughout the year and if you want to participate, it’s super important that you plan ahead!

Hot on the heels of closing the 2025 Walt Disney World Marathon weekend races, Disney fans and runners alike are wondering when they can do the races in 2026. If that sounds like you and you want to know when you can get in on the action for next year’s marathon, Disney has already released a bunch of details!
As exciting as it is to see the runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon weekend swoop into Disney World and take over all four of the theme parks with its runners and exclusive expo, it seems it’s over as soon as it begins. If you happen to already be in withdrawals (or recovering from) the 2025 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend races or just happened to have missed signing up, Disney’s already dropped hints at when you can start planning for 2026.

runDisney previously dropped their race season calendar which features multiple runDisney events across Disney World, Disneyland, and the virtual races. While most of the races on the calendar for the upcoming season are for the remainder of the 2025 year, runDisney has just updated it to include next year’s full marathon weekend races.

The 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend races will take place from January 7th -11th, 2026. The entire weekend is comprised of themed 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon races where you can choose from one or as many as you’d like to participate in. Those who are able to sign up for and complete the Dopey Challenge by combining all the races will also receive a special challenge medal.

Race registration historically fills up quickly and participants who are enrolled in Club runDisney will have first dibs at registering for their preferred races. Club runDisney Platinum and Gold membership registrations will begin on March 4th, 2025 and general registrations for the remaining spots on available races will open on March 11th, 2025.

The Walt Disney World Marathon race weekends are super popular and feature a community of runners uplifting each other as you race by, PhotoPass photographers in the parks to capture your memories in the making, characters to stop and snap a quick picture with, and even an opportunity to hop aboard a Disney World ride for a quick break before finishing the race!
