All 127 Thoughts I Had Watching the Season Finale of 'Agatha All Along'

I am SO SAD that we are meeting once again for the finale of Agatha All Along but I also can’t wait to see what happens.

I missed last week’s episode so this is a three-parter. Let’s finish the show, shall we? Grab your tarot deck and cross your fingers that we get some Agatha and Rio backstory. These are all 127 thoughts I had watching the final three episodes of Agatha All Along.

EPISODE 7

Show Review

Well, it had its misses but overall, I loved Agatha All Along. I think it really succeeded in leaning into the stylization of classic horror and fantasy films. In general, the theming elements of the show were impeccable — from the practical sets to the costumes and hair.

I also think it did something new for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did it expand on the time-hopping fun of WandaVision but it also incorporated actual horror themes — particularly with the Salem Seven. Plus it felt like a focus on fresh characters — many of them women over 40 and some of them actively in gay relationships (AKA groups that are incredibly underrepresented in media) — that helped it feel like a switch-up from the monotony that the MCU has fallen into.

Personally, the show was less exciting when it felt too much like familiar Marvel. I also think the writing had hits and misses. Sometimes the dialogue was a bit clunky — but they also managed the Lilia episode which was INCREDIBLE.

All in all, I think that this is just another sign that Marvel is looking for a new path forward with a shift in what their movies and shows look like. I wrote about this when I reviewed Deadpool and Wolverine and it was even more apparent during the Marvel announcements at D23 that the MCU is looking to grow up and branch out. Agatha All Along was another step in that direction — and it was also a fun, spooky show about witches contending with their pasts. Here’s hoping Billy and Ghost Agatha take us on in the same direction.
