This weekend is already going to be wild in Disney World, but there’s SO much more going on across the country, too!
Yes, Friday is the start of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom, but Friday is ALSO the start of Disney’s largest event all year — D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event!
D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event takes place from August 9th-11th in Anaheim, California. The event quickly sold out MONTHS ago, but what’s so special about it? Well, this is where through exclusive panels, showcases, and exhibitions we’ll be able to hear about what Disney has coming down the pipeline for their parks, film and tv plans, cruise line, and beyond!
While there are DOZENS of different panels happening over the course of those three days, the largest announcements are expected to come out of the Disney Experiences Showcase at the Honda Center on Saturday, August 10th at 7PM PT. While we’ll be covering the entire event throughout the weekend, you can bet we’ll be more than ready for all the huge park news about Disney World, Disneyland, and the international Disney parks.
Another notable presentation is the Disney Legends Award ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, August 11th at 5PM PT. At this panel celebrities and other icons are honored for their contributions to the company over the years. This year’s honorees include James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus, Steve Ditko, Harrison Ford, and John Williams, just to name a few!
Not only that, but there’s exclusive merchandise you can only grab at this event too! We can’t wait to check it all out, but we did get a sneak peek that you won’t want to miss! Some of the merchandise locations will even have a virtual queue to help manage crowds.
So what kind of announcements are Disney fans expecting from this massive event? Just to name a couple, here’s what we, and tons of other Disney fans, are hoping to hear about:
- More details on the promised Animal Kingdom expansion/retheme and Magic Kingdom expansions
- DisneylandForward projects, including the proposed new Pandora land.
- In general more concrete plans and less blue sky projects
