According to WFTV 9a new major storm system is moving toward Florida and a potential hurricane could make landfall as soon as August 3rd, 2024. There’s a 30% chance of development over the next two days and a 70% chance over the next week.

This comes after the National Hurricane Center first reported a potential storm over the weekend. The storm is currently heading toward Florida and the eastern Gulf of Mexico where the warm tropical waters could help strengthen the storm into a hurricane. It would be called Hurricane Debby.
